Work Party
Coming Saturday, May 14, 2011
If you can swing a hammer, or even just lean on a shovel, come lend your spirit to our work party on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Festival grounds. This year's first work party will build more raised decking for better seating in the back corners of the main theater and a cute porch roof to the Ice House food service counter in the lawn adjacent to the performance space. By the time your arrive, the heavy framing will have already been done. You get to do the fun parts, like installing floor boards, applying roofing metal, and maybe painting some trim.
Work begins at 8:00 am and ends at 4:00pm.
At 4:00, the Johnsons will host a happy hour with snacks to celebrate the completion of the new flooring and thank everyone for their help.
Preparation for the event
Work proceeds apace at the festival site nearly year round. The owners, Howard and Elisabeth Johnson, are committed to making this the "Best Little Chamber Music Festival," and that includes the planning of multiple projects to enhance the performance experience each year.

Johnson said, "For the 2010 season we were very pleased to have Kyrie Jardin lead the work on framing and sheathing the Ice House building on the festival grounds. That little jewel-box of a building, planted on a green lawn with plenty of lighting, irrigation, plumbing and electricity, is the focal point for food and beverages during the social hour that happens before each performance, during intermission, and afterwards. This year Mike Real has been working with the festival venue committee to define upgrades for the 2011 season, including a new porch roof for the Ice House."
Concrete Is In
Not every day do you see a cement truck driving into a building, but that's exactly what happened last week on the grounds of the Methow Valley Chamber Music Festival.
On April 21, 2011 the truck, from Cascade Concrete, delivered a batch of hot concrete to the back corners of the seating area at the festival's main stage performance venue. The concrete will be used to construct raised platforms in the back corners that should make seating in those areas quite desireable. Ed Rundle supervised the operation.

Thanks to all the volunteers who make our festival possible.
